The differential relay type DKT, with variable bias, is intended for the restricted protection of transformers and generator-transformer units. The restrain function, dependent upon the value of the through fault currents, is adjustable to obtain the best adaptation of the protection relay to the plant conditions. A suitable stabilizing circuit makes the relays insensitive to the strong magnetizing inrush currents, which may appear at energizing, while maintaining it active in case of closing the circuit breaker on a faulty transformer.
The matching transformers, series DAR, are available to compensate for the different ratio between the nominal current of the transformer, primary and secondary, and that of the line CT's and to compensate for the phase shift between primary and secondary current, depending on the connection group of the windings.
